2023 ANNUAL SUMMIT
Hosted in Partnership with Orange Coast College
We acknowledge and honor the fact that Orange Coast College is located on the traditional and unceded lands and waters of the Acjachemen and Tongva Tribal Nations. Land acknowledgments allow us to reconsider practices of power and privilege. They allow us to unveil histories that aren’t shared in contemporary educational systems while uplifting the experiences and visibility of Native peoples.
We respectfully recognize our responsibility to the original and current caretakers of the land, air and water; we recognize the Acjachamen and Tongva Tribal Nations, and all of their ancestors and descendants — past, present and future. As we work in partnership with Tribal members we hope that our collaborative work will uplift the voices and spirits of everyone dedicated to the protection of our community.
Annual Summit Information
Orange County Grantmakers is pleased to announce our 2022 Summit, Orange County’s largest convening of nonprofit and community leaders, is BACK in-person Thursday, October 6, 2022!
We are thrilled to host this year’s event in partnership with Orange Coast College. Our theme, “Breaking Barriers: Partnership, Power Sharing and the Collective Good,” captures promising practices, the sharing of case studies and best practices, inspirational stories and breakthrough conversations among Orange County community, funders and nonprofit leaders alike, on our journey to a more equitable future. The summit is not just a 1-day, 1-off conversation, but is our launch of our new collaborative focus and strategy of moving equity forward in Orange County.
Highlights from this year’s summit include:
- Focused sessions and conversations on four key issues facing our community: health equity & data, immigration, social justice and land use/housing.
- Specialized, focused conversations for participants based on their role in our community: those in nonprofit leadership, nonprofit development, and programming – creating spaces for action oriented dialogues with professional peers.
- An afternoon learning opportunity around racial equity.
- Leading, thought provoking speakers that will inform us and inspire us to partner on a more equitable future for Orange County… including a closing keynote from Wajahat Ali, NY Times writer and author of “Go Back to Where you Came From: And Other Helpful Recommendations on Becoming American.”
We invite you to join us at the 2022 Summit,
where 400+ community leaders will connect and learn together.
COVID-19 Precautions
OCG is thrilled to host the annual Summit live again in 2022, after the previous two years being held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. OCG knows that the Summit is more valuable to our community when live connections, thinking and innovation can occur. Additionally, OCG cares deeply about the safety and well-being of our community and speakers and is monitoring the status of COVID-19 through the Orange County community. As such, the Summit is mask friendly and encourages all attendees to make decisions on precautions that are appropriate for their individual situation. Masks, hand-sanitizer, and anti-bacterial wipes will be available to all Summit attendees.
Annual Summit Award

Legacy
Leader
In April 2013, Orange County Grantmakers saluted founding member Sister Regina Fox for her quiet acts of kindness, advocacy, and generosity, and her tireless efforts to serve the needs of the vulnerable in Orange County. To honor her, and to recognize those leaders who follow her example, the Sister Regina Legacy Leader Award recognizes nonprofit, professional, or volunteer leaders who demonstrate humble character, a long-term commitment to Orange County’s nonprofit community, and individuals who have spent their years quietly working for the betterment of Orange County as a whole.

Emerging
Leader
The Emerging Leader Award seeks to honor an up-and-coming nonprofit and/or philanthropic professional who has made significant contributions to their field, and who has demonstrated their potential for leadership and continuing service.

Outstanding Changemaker
Launched in 2020, the OCG Outstanding Changemaker Award recognizes and celebrates an individual who is doing extraordinary things to make Orange County a better place to live, work, and thrive. A Changemaker is a thought-leader and doer who has developed innovative solutions to address community and/or industry challenges. This individual identified a need, and through proactive leadership, creativity, and partnership, tackled the problem.
